Dutch multinational firm Royal DSM has announced two new appointments to its APAC team: effective 1 September, Pieter Nuboer will be the Asia-Pacific VP of Animal Nutrition & Health, while André Rhoen will be the Asia-Pacific VP of Human Nutrition & Health.

Nuboer joined DSM in 2009 to oversee the company’s human nutrition and health business in APAC; in his new position, will report to global president of Animal Nutrition & Health, David Blakemore.

Blakemore said, “The high-growth economies in the Asia-Pacific region are a key part of our global corporate strategy”, adding that Nuboer’s part in DSM’s APAC growth strategy over the last decade has given him an understanding of the company’s customers in the region.

Pieter succeeds Karim Kurmaly, who was instrumental in growing the Animal Nutrition & Health business in the region and who is moving back to Europe to take on a new role.

André Rhoen joined DSM in 2001 and has had numerous roles in the Global Strategy & Acquisitions department, as well as the Intermediates and Nutrition businesses. He will now report to Jeremy Xu, global president of Human Nutrition & Health.

Xu said, “People, economies and markets in Asia-Pacific are being affected by fundamental societal trends predominantly driven by demographic changes as populations grow.

“We’re seeing increasing pressure on resources and the food chain, along with new patterns of consumption impacting the environment, prompting heightened attention to health and well-being.”

Nuboer and Rhoen will be based in DSM’s APAC headquarters in Singapore.
