The UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention has banned a further three ‘herbal supplements’ and warned they could endanger the lives of patients.

Last week we reported how officials had ordered the withdrawal of Stiff Bull Herbal Coffee and Zi Su Body Fat Health.

Now the ministry has issued three notices for products claiming to ease headache, reducing weight and improving male sexual performance.

TT, which is being promoted as a herbal product for headache relief, could harm under 18s by causing “a rising in their lead levels which might result in lead poisoning that damages the nervous system and internal organs.” said Dr Ameen Hussain Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary for Public Policy and Licensing at the Ministry of Health and Prevention and chairman of the Higher Pharmaceutical Vigilance Committee.

Ultimate Body Tox, which is being promoted as a herbal product for weight loss, has been found to contain Sibutramine, said the ministry. Sibutramine can cause hypertension and/ rapid heartbeat for some patients who suffer from heart disease.

Meanwhile Vimax, promoted as a male sexual enhancer, was found to contain an undeclared substance, Tadalafil, which can cause a sharp drop in blood pressure, said officials.
