Speaking to Editor-in-Chief Gary Scattergood at the recent Vitafoods Asia show in Singapore, APAC sales director Gernot Stadlmann assessed the factors behind the growth, paying particular attention to the buoyant China market.
We have featured several reports in recent months about the country’s booming probiotics sector, and Stadlmann said Chr Hansen was witnessing the same surge in demand.
While he could provide any data ahead of the publication of the firm’s annual report next month, he said it had been one of the “best ever" years for APAC sales.
Ingredient innovation
In the video he also looks at the impact of the new infant formula laws in China and gauges what impact these will have on the sector.
We also assess the level of product and ingredient innovation in the probiotics space, and look at the company’s research priorities for probiotics.
This work will be heavily based on 100 new strains the company added to its library earlier this year. It is believed this could help the development of new commercial probiotics for a range of metabolic, immune, and digestive health issues.
