With growing research and consumer interest around bioavailability in health foods and dietary supplements, brands and suppliers have been exploring a variety of novel delivery systems that eschew the traditional capsule, pill and tablet formats.
Some companies have even developed their own proprietary delivery systems, with nutraceutical brand Entity and biotechnology firm Pharmako among them.
We speak to Entity's commercial director Eva Tan about consumer trends and preferences in Australia and Singapore, where the brand has a presence.
In addition, she tells us about her observations of industry practices in using unconventional delivery systems and formats, and pinpoints the key priorities to bear in mind when developing new products and deciding whether or not to use a particular delivery system.
Speaking to us from Australia, Pharmako's co-founder and commercial director Eric Meppem enlightens us on the issues surrounding delivery system innovation, including quality control and cost.
He also elaborates on the mechanisms behind two of the supplier's patented delivery systems, and what companies should look out for when introducing products using new delivery systems to different markets in the APAC region.
