Trend Tracker: The latest on sports nutrition in Singapore, F&B trends in China, and our upcoming industry events
Alibaba's e-commerce arm Tmall has revealed seven trends in China's F&B consumer market, including small packs, diet replacements, low-sugar, international, Internet sensation, inter-industry cooperation, and cultural element revival.The report, jointly published by Tmall and CBN Data, looks at online consumer data collected between 2016 and 2018.
1. Small packaging
More snacks, white wine and tea bags are appearing in smaller or individual packs. In 2017 and 2018, small packs were most popular in new first-tier cities such as Chengdu, Hangzhou, Wuhan and Dongguan, followed by second- and third-tier cities.

Niche yet cheap: New Singapore sports nutrition e-commerce retailer focusing on scale and halal products
A newly established Singapore-based sports nutrition retailer is seeking to offer niche products at low prices to consumers, something it believes will give it an advantage over other retailers in the country.
Nutri X, which began operations in late February this year, claims to stock the largest whey protein and halal sports nutrition supplements in Singapore.
Its other main product categories include amino acid supplements and pre-workout creatine. It will also be bringing in multivitamins and niche sports nutrition products, including more halal supplements.
