Personalised gummies for skin health: Chinese skincare brand expands into nutrition with beauty-from-within range

Chinese precision skincare brand MeumSpring is moving into the personalised nutrition space​ with its first range of functional gummies for the beauty-from-within category.

MeumSpring is the precision skincare arm of Shenzhen-based iCarbonX, a biotech and AI firm focusing on precision health. It is backed by big-name investors, including tech giant Tencent, and Vcanbio Life Sciences.

It is expecting to launch personalised gummies as part of its precision skin health service in the later part of this year.

Introduction:There are just two weeks left to submit entries to the second NutraIngredients-Asia Awards​, which offer brands, suppliers and researchers the chance to be crowned the region's brightest and best ahead of Vitafoods Asia.

The awards ceremony will take place in Singapore on September 24, the evening before Vitafoods Asia 2019 gets underway.  

They are open to companies across the globe, providing their products or ingredients are available in at least one APAC market.

Imports still impress: Survey reveals Chinese consumers place premium on overseas supplements

More than half (53.7%) of the Chinese consumers surveyed said they bought imported nutrition supplements​, while only 7.9% preferred to buy local products, according to a white paper released by the Chinese Nutrition Society.

Titled Year 2019 China imported supplement consumption behaviour white paper​, the study, published by the Chinese Nutrition Society, was conducted with support from Australian supplement giant Swisse. 

This is also the first time the society has led a study on consumption attitude towards imported nutrition supplements in China.

Driving India's nutraceutical growth: New trade body launches website and names advocacy boards

India's recently formed Expert Nutraceutical Advocacy Council (ENAC) has launched its website​ and named its advocacy board members as it ramps up its mission to become an independent voice for the nutrition industry in the country.

Since securing registration from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs in January, founder Sandeep Gupta has been driving membership growth and signing a number of MoUs with educational institutions in the country.

Gupta said the organision sought to educate regulators and consumers, while also driving industry knowledge and expertise through training and education.

China insights: E-commerce, sports nutrition and omega-3 developments among hot topics at Shanghai summit

Trade body HPA China's Nutrition and Health China Industry Summit​, which features NutraIngredrients-Asia as its exclusive international media partner, will explore the latest developments in e-commerce, probiotics, sports nutrition and omega-3.

According to HPA executive director Jeff Crowther, the event — which will take place in Shanghai next month — will provide international companies with everything they need to know in order to enter the market, or continue navigating China's fast-paced supplement industry.

Regulations, consumer trends, packaging, and cross border e-commerce (CBEC) were all evolving at a quick pace, so the summit would play a vital role in keeping industry leaders up to date, he added.
