Enovate Biolife is tapping on its galalnga-based ingredient, EnXtra, which has been backed by three clinical studies, to branch into several applications beyond sports nutrition, including weight loss and cognitive care.

The product received the Ingredient of the Year award in the Sports Nutrition category at the second NutraIngredients-Asia awards held in Singapore.

Speaking to NutraIngredients-Asia at Vitafoods Asia, Rostum Irani and Kriti Chaudhary from the company’s international business division said the ingredient was clinically proven to improve alertness and sustain focus for up to five hours.

In one of the clinical studies, 53 subjects were recruited and divided into four groups (placebo, EnXtra, caffeine, EnXtra plus caffeine).

Irani said that EnXtra performed superior to other groups in terms of mental energy, focus, and alertness.

When EnXtra was combined with caffeine, we found it prevented the negative caffeine crash. The positive aspect of caffeine, which is sustaining attention, was then enhanced for a period of five hours. Hence EnXtra with its caffeine boosting aspect, has earned the title of caffeine amplifier,” he explained.

Irani shared that its low loading dose, pleasant organoleptic properties, and its ability to give same day effect makes it suitable for use in applications like pre-workout, weight management, and even e-gaming formulas.

Chaudhary added that the company is currently planning to develop new ingredients in the areas of healthy ageing, and active lifestyle.
