These products are rapidly gaining sales alongside more established supplements for bone health and general vitamins, minerals supplements, China’s e-commerce giant JD.com and Onion Global, a budding player from Guangzhou which runs the e-commerce platform Omall, have revealed.
Yang Ye, general manager of health supplements at JD Health said probiotics, infant nutrition, and even FSMPs were seeing quick growth.
“Statistics from the past two years have shown that the fastest growing categories include FSMPs, antioxidant products, probiotics, products for sleep improvement, and infant nutrition,” Yang said.
Mio Ho, CFO of Onion Global on the other hand, talked about the new initiatives that the firm has to incubate new dietary supplement product brands.
“For dietary supplements, we hope to take on a new challenge, which is to develop a new product brand with an innovation centre or a research lab.
“We will also help to incubate those who only have a product formula or an idea,” Ho said.
