US formula shortage: Bubs Australia’s infant formula tariff free, firm works with two more retail chains

Bubs Australia is expanding the number of retail chains that are selling its infant formula products in the US and also enjoying tariff concessions for the products sold under a trade deal.

Its newly added retail partners are Meijer and HEB, which will add to its existing retail partners Target, Walmart, Kroger, and Albertsons.

The firm expects 361,299 cans of Bubs infant formula to be sold across 34 US states by mid-July.

US formula shortage: Danone NZ, Bellamy’s Organic latest to receive US FDA approval, Meiji makes application

Meiji has made an application to the US FDA to export its infant formula amid the country’s formula shortage crisis, while Danone NZ and Bellamy’s Organic were the latest to receive FDA’s approval.

Meiji has confirmed to NutraIngredients-Asia ​that it has applied to export two infant formulas to the US under the country’s enforcement discretion policy.

The two products include a powdered milk for babies allergic to lactose and a cube-shaped powdered milk.

Nestle Health Science to acquire GO Healthy and parent firm, hails brand’s ‘simplified yet effective’ vitamin regimen

Nestle Health Science is set to acquire New Zealand dietary supplement brand GO Healthy and its parent company.

This will be the global nutrition giant’s first acquisition of a company based in Asia-Pacific.

GO Healthy is part of The Better Health Company (TBHC) which also owns manuka honey brand Egmont, and New Zealand Health Manufacturing businesses. 

Plant power: Independent research supercharges probiotic tonics firm Akesi for APAC expansion

Singapore bio-fermented tonics firm Akesi is eyeing expansion into other South East Asian countries as well as bigger markets such as Japan.

The firm has developed five SKUs currently, namely Bio-Fermented Papaya Tonic, Bio-Fermented Turmeric Tonic, Bio-Fermented Berry Spritzer, and two multi-species synbiotic Probiotic+ Powder. These products are made in Queensland and transported via cold freight to Singapore.

Speaking to NutraIngredients-Asia, ​the founders said that research conducted on the products contained plant-based nutrients, especially polyphenols rich in antioxidant properties.

Slowing down ageing: Regenosis targets 100k monthly sales with Buck Institute-backed Alpha-Ketoglutarate supplements

Singapore-based Regenosis is targeting a monthly sale of 100k with its flagship calcium-based Alpha-Ketoglutarate (AKG) formulation that claims to slow down the ageing process.

The supplements have been shown to lower the human biological age by approximately eight years after an average use of seven months.

It has been developed with independent biomedical ageing research centre, the Buck Institute for Research on Aging located in California.
