Korean firm to study mulberry leaf extract for blood glucose control, GLP-1

Korean ingredient distributor Vixxol will be commencing a clinical trial that assesses how the supplementation of white mulberry leaf extract could manage post-meal blood glucose levels, as well as supporting the body’s production of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1).

The white mulberry leaf extract to be studied is an patented ingredient commercially available as Reducose.

It has undergone several research and clinical trials by British lifescience company Phynova, which is also the ingredient’s supplier.

dsm-firmenich sets sight on targeting four hallmarks of ageing

dsm-firmenich has set sight on targeting four of the 12 hallmarks of ageing, with its principal scientist underlining why they are the key priorities for nutra interventions.

The four main hallmarks of ageing that it has identified and is targeting through its portfolio of nutritional ingredients are 1) cellular senescence, 2) mitochondrial dysfunction, 3) chronic inflammation, and 4) dysbiosis.

Gabriele Civiletto, associate principal scientist at dsm-firmenich told NutraIngredients-Asia the above on the sidelines of the two-day Founders Longevity Forum that took place in Singapore on February 27 and 28.

Blue ocean market? Bio-gen studies lutein-zeaxanthin’s eye-brain benefits on teens

The use of lutein and zeaxanthin for supporting the “eye-brain axis” among the teenage population is a blue ocean market, says Indian botanical supplier Bio-gen Extracts, which is currently conducting a clinical study in this area.

The six-month clinical trial is taking place in Australia and is expected to be completed later this year.

It will assess the use of Bio-gen Extracts' patented lutein and zeaxanthin ingredient Lute-Gen on the visuocognitive impacts of the teenage population.

MFGM-enriched formula gains traction in APAC amid rising focus on infant immunity – FrieslandCampina

MFGM (milk fat globule membrane) is increasingly featuring in infant milk formulas and children’s nutrition products in APAC, as major brands tap into growing consumer awareness of early-life immunity.

Notable products include Mead Johnson’s Enfamil Enspire 1 infant formula, Interbos Hoff milk pudding in Vietnam, and Lotte Pasteur in South Korea.

This is according to ingredients firm FrieslandCampina, whose latest in vitro study highlights MFGM-enriched whey’s antiviral activity against common pediatric viruses.
