Blackmores obtains B Corp cert for all brands to meet sustainability demand
Kirin’s subsidiary Blackmores Group has obtained B Corporation (B Corp) certification for all its brands, including eponymous brand Blackmores, BioCeuticals, and Pure Animal Wellbeing.
The aim is to meet consumer expectations for sustainability and disclosure requirements, and to ensure resilient supply chains.
B Corp certification is well established across North America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, and has mounting significance in Asia, especially among younger demographics and conscious consumers, said Sally Townsend, Head of Sustainability.
Enoki mushroom intake could counter male menopause, testosterone decline – Japan RCT
A randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study from Japan found that enoki mushroom extract containing high adenosine content has benefits for improving male menopausal symptoms.
The study was funded by the Shizuoka Prefectural Sangyo Shinko Foundation, whose goal is to support local businesses in the prefecture and foster economic growth.
A key finding was that the intake of enoki mushroom extract for 12 weeks attenuated male menopausal symptoms, such as declines in sexual function and testosterone levels, based on Aging Males’ Symptoms (AMS) scores.

Quercetin supplements may boost muscle strength gains in older adults: Japanese study
Researchers in Japan found that daily quercetin supplementation can significantly boost muscle strength gains in older adults undergoing resistance training.
Writing in European Journal of Nutrition, the findings suggested that quercetin can help activate hard-to-reach muscle fibres.
This can deliver strength improvements similar to those that come with high-intensity training — but reportedly without the risks.
Concentration, price, then brand: Survey shows omega-3 intake trends in Japan
The concentration of DHA, EPA is the most important consideration among Japanese consumers buying omega-3 supplements, followed by price and brand reputation, based on findings of a new survey involving 1,000 individuals.
The online survey took place between February 19 and 22, and was commissioned by Taiwan-based supplement company Daiken Biomedical.
The firm expanded into Japan in January this year with three products, namely omega-3 and products for supporting sleep and mobility.
