Singapore’s hue aims to carve a niche with mood-focused functional snacks
A Singapore start-up has set sights on making a name for itself in the mood-boosting functional snacks space.
hue has so far developed products for four mood types, namely “uplifting”, “energising”, “calming”, and “fulfilling” using botanicals such as tiger milk mushroom (Lignosus rhinocerus), moringa leaf, and wild Alaskan fish oil.
Its product format is also where it seeks to differentiate itself from competitors. It has therefore products such as gummies and popping boba with both containing liquid filling.
Haleon replicates China VMS success in the Philippines and Korea
Haleon has revealed how it is replicating features of its successful Vitamins, Minerals and Supplements (VMS) business model in China to other markets, including The Philippines and South Korea.
For example, it is introducing a program similar to Bone Up China in The Philippines, as it seeks to expand the market presence of its calcium supplement brand Caltrate, said Haleon’s APAC president Keith Choy.
In contrast to China where the focus has been largely on the ageing population, a key target audience in The Philippines would be pregnant women, as they are also a group that requires calcium and bone support.
Shake Your Plants seeks to fill dehydration and nutrient gaps in UAE with functional beverages
Functional beverage brand Shake Your Plants (SYP) says it aims to address dehydration and nutrient deficiency issues among the UAE population, while actively seeking global expansion.
The firm was founded in 2022 by Lia Coelho and Justine Dampt, both of whom have lived in the UAE for over 15 years.
Its first product, Kombucha+, was introduced in 2024.
Doctor’s Best outlines new product strategies for China in 2025
Doctor’s Best, the US subsidiary of China biotech firm Kingdomway, is beefing up its offerings of anti-ageing and liver care products in China this year.
Some of these new launches would include NMN, liver care tablets, and ergothioneine, which has become highly popular in China in the recent one to two years.
Kingdomway outlined its plans for Doctor’s Best new product launches during the announcement of its FY24 financial results.
iPRO strengthens footprint in Saudi, eyes bigger functional hydration opportunities in ME
Functional hydration brand iPRO is solidifying its presence in Saudi Arabia through a strategic partnership while looking to actively expand across the Middle East and Asia.
Four years since it started exporting to the Middle East, iPRO recently participated in the Gulfood trade show in Dubai for the first time, underscoring its expansion efforts in the region following a promising launch into Saudi Arabia in February.
The entry into Saudi resulted from a partnership with Al Rabie Saudi Foods Company, a household name in the local beverage industry.
