Rising liver disease prevalence, interest in preventive health driving supplements growth – LAC
Singapore-headquartered LAC is observing an increased demand for liver supplements, which it attributes to a rising prevalence of liver disease and growing interest in preventive health.
The supplement brand and retailer said that the trend is happening across Asia, including China as a key driver.
In China for instance, there has been an increase in online searches around liver health. This could be due to a rising prevalence of liver-related conditions, Evelyn Teo, chief marketing officer of LAC, told NutraIngredients-Asia.
Poor sleep more common in adults in 30s - Asahi Group Foods survey
A consumer survey by Asahi Group Foods has revealed that poor sleep is more common in adults in their 30s as compared to other age groups.
Poor sleep was more commonly experienced by adults in their 30s than seniors in their 60s.
Among the former, 66.7 per cent said that they did not feel energised after waking up, based on the online survey involving 800 people.
Tariffs anticipation: US the top importer of China’s health foods in 2024
China Chamber of Commerce for Import & Export of Medicines & Health Products (CCCMHPIE) has released new data on the import and export of health foods.
According to the data, the US was the top importer of China’s health foods last year, taking over the top spot from Hong Kong.
Concerns over global tariffs adjustments have contributed to an increase in the US’s imports of China health foods last year, said the report.
Germany topples Australia as 2nd largest health foods exporter to China in 2024
Germany has taken over Australia as the second largest health foods exporter to China last year, trailing behind only the US.
The value of Germany’s health foods exports to China between 2023 and 2024 increased by 57.84 per cent to US$1.165bn, according to new data from CCCMHPIE.
Total imports of health foods into China was valued at USD$7.75bn last year, a year-on-year increase of 15.1 per cent — of which nearly 60 per cent came from its five biggest exporters, namely the US, Germany, Australia, Indonesia, and Hong Kong.
Spate reveals top supplement trends, according to Google and TikTok
The supplements and ingestibles category has experienced steady growth from March 2024 to February 2025, with search and views on Google and TikTok up 19.3 per cent from the year before.
And it’s on track to jump even more, according to the 2025 Supplement Trends Report from market research firm Spate, with predictions for a 20.5 per cent year-over-year growth for the category in the next year.
Spate uses its proprietary Popularity Index, a tool that combines Google and TikTok data to show how popular a category or trend is.
