Beer maker Asahi sets sights on health and wellness business expansion
Asahi has set its sights on expanding its health and wellness business, such as developing functional drinks and promoting the global rollout of its lactic acid bacteria ingredients.
This is based on the company’s analysis of megatrends expected to take place by 2050.
It anticipates that global demand for alcohol alternatives and health-conscious products will continue to rise. Further diversification of consumer preferences is also expected.
Regenesome to launch beauty supplement targeting skin ageing, environmental damage
Japanese biotech start-up Regenesome Inc is to launch a health functional food called SAISEI Regenesome Supplement, targeted at tackling skin damage caused by ageing and external stimuli.
A subsidiary of Space Seed Holdings, the firm aims to advance anti-ageing technology with a primary focus on exosome research.
The product is created based on the three concepts of SAISEI — renewal (to regenerate vitality), prime (to bring out the best), and differentiation (to be unique).
Matcha in a capsule: Japanese firm formulates superfood supplement
Japanese firm Vicella Laboratory Co. Ltd is hoping to cash in on the popularity of match tea by formulating a capsule supplement, which also contains 18 grains to support convenient consumption of superfoods.
The product was recently exhibited at Beauty World Japan Tokyo.
According to the firm, it is made from matcha sourced from Uji, Kyoto, a region known for producing the highest grade of matcha.
Suntory yields favourable findings for first meal replacement product
Suntory is building up the science behind its first meal replacement product, with the first set of clinical trial findings showing significant body weight and body mass index (BMI) reduction.
The product studied is a cocoa-flavoured meal replacement powder containing dairy and soy protein, as well as dietary fibre as the key ingredients.
It is the first meal replacement product from Suntory, as it seeks to grow its wellness business.
Probi, Nomura Dairy Products cracks Japan’s plant-based probiotic drink market
Japanese firm Nomura Dairy Products believes that the plant-based probiotic drinks category is still at a nascent stage in the country, and has launched a new product with supplier firm Probi.
The two companies recently introduced their probiotic-enhanced carrot juice, which is targeting women in 30s to 50s who are concerned about their gastrointestinal and overall health.
Sold under Nomura’s “My Flora” brand, the product is currently available in supermarkets across Japan, including Costco.
