Another Ayurveda products giant has ventured into the nutraceuticals space, with Dabur India focusing on three key wellness categories for its first launch.

The company has also tapped on “Japanese technology” and probiotics from a fellow Indian firm for its nutraceuticals debut.

The 141-year old firm is a household name in India and is especially well-known for its Dabur Chyawanprash - a herbal formula for immune support.

The company announced last week that it has entered the nutraceutical category with a range of products launched under the brand “Siens by Dabur”. “Siens” is pronounced as “science”, according to the company.

The brand currently targets three health categories - namely beauty and skin health, daily wellness and gut health.

Marine collagen and 3-in-1 hair, skin, and nails gummies claiming to control hair fall, are part of its beauty supplement range.

Said to be made with “Japanese technology”, its marine type I collagen powder is also formulated with glutathione, vitamin C and E, biotin, and hyaluronic acid.

Its 3-in-1 gummies said to contain no added sugars, also claim to “brighten hair” and “strengthen hair and nails”.

On the other hand, its daily wellness portfolio consists of multivitamins capsules for men and women, and omega-3 soft gels, while its gut health range is supported by a daily pre and probiotic mint-flavour powder sachet.

It consists of fructo-oligosaccharides as prebiotics and bacillus coagulans - Unique IS2 as the probiotics.

The strain is the proprietary strain of fellow Indian company Unique Biotech Ltd and claims to benefit the gut, immune system, and could be used as a sports nutrition.

One of the latest research on IS2, conducted by Canada-based contract research organisation (CRO) Nutrasource, Apex Trials, and PepsiCo Inc, reported significant improvement in stool consistency and reduced incidence of hard stool in people who took the strain for four weeks.

Another research published in Probiotics and Antimicrobial Proteins reported that adding the strain to the laxative lactulose was more effective in relieving constipation symptoms than using laxative alone.

The company explained that the use of science-backed ingredients was especially important, as today’s consumers value transparency and science-backed care.

“Siens is a future-ready wellness brand born out of Dabur’s legacy of trust and our deep understanding of evolving consumer expectations.

“Wellness today is no longer about vague promises — it’s about precision, evidence, and experience," said Pratyush Gupta, head- customer marketing at Dabur India Limited.

The products are sold via Dabur’s direct-to-consumer website as part of its “digital-first” strategy for the brand.

Dabur’s entry into nutraceuticals reflects the growing interest of the category among India’s ayurvedic giants.

Just last month, Baidyanath also launched its first nutraceutical range under the brand Siddhayu at Vitafoods Europe.

The firm launched 27 products at one go, with products comprising of men and women’s health support, healthy ageing, and kids nutrition.

Explaining the reason for the launch, chief marketing officer M. Krishnamurthy Rao said that this was to keep up with the worldwide trend where nutraceuticals have become “the future.”

The firm, however, is not only interested in the domestic Indian market, but also introducing its nutraceuticals globally.

It is expecting to launch its second set of nutraceuticals by December.
