JSHealth Vitamins has launched its first supplement targeted at men - Hair + Energy For Men - based on strong feedback for hair growth support products.

The product’s formulation is based on its bestselling product Hair + Energy designed by its founder and nutritionist Jessica Sepel.

Although its products can be taken by men as well, JSHealth’s target audience has been primary women since it was founded seven years ago.

However, there have been growing demands for the company to develop supplements for men - with hair growth support one of the popular requests.

“A lot of our customers were writing in to our founder Jessica and saying that their partners were ‘stealing’ and taking their Hair + Energy supplement.

“There is clearly a demand for it and we knew it was time to create one specifically for men,” Sarah Lawman, head of Australia at JSHealth told NutraIngredients.

Based on the company’s market research, over 60% of men suffer from hair loss by the time they are 35 years old.

“Hair loss among men is a common occurrence and I think it’s a sore point for a lot of people which they do not wish to talk about, especially for men,” she pointed out.

Like the original formula, Hair + Energy For Men tablets also contain proprietary iodine from its exclusive blend of JSHealth kelp and zinc. The blend of kelp comes from Ascophyllum nodosum blade and Fucus vesiculosus.

Ingredients added for the men’s formula include ginkgo for healthy blood circulation and Siberian ginseng for physical stamina, energy levels, and mental clarity.

Aside from the domestic Australian market, the new product was also launched globally, including its key overseas markets such as the US, UK, and Europe.

In Asia, JSHealth’s products are also sold offline in Singapore.

Extending the men’s health range

The company is also planning to expand its men’s health product range, with new launches slated for later this year and early next year.

At the moment, the company has seen strong consumer interest in performance and sports nutrition when it comes to men’s health in Australia.

“In terms of further expansion for the range, a lot of our products can be used by men, but we’ve definitely seen a surge in popularity of performance and sports nutrition products.”

Riding on the booming magnesium category, the company also launched a powder version of its Advanced Magnesium+ tablets for people who are not able to swallow tablets or prefer to mix it with beverages.

Both the powder and tablet form contain three different forms of magnesium, including magnesium glycinate dihydrate, magnesium citrate, and magnesium amino acid chelate, and claims to support muscle relaxation and function.

Magnesium as an ingredient has been trending in Australia especially in the past six months, largely due to TikTok content, Lawman noticed.

“We’ve recently also launched an advanced magnesium powder, which is a powdered version of the tablets that we already have in the market.

“I think more men are leaning into these alternative health supplements generally, and in that space, we’ve got some exciting products coming later this year and early next year, and hopefully we’ll be able to tap into the male market more with these products.”
