Arjuna Natural Extracts Ltd is seeking to tap into the Indian gooseberry superfood trend with the launch of a new amla ingredient – TRILOW.

The extract of wild amla will be officially launched at Hi Europe in Frankfurt at the end of November.

The firm said its proprietary extraction process preserves ingredient functionality and ensures potency. TRILOW has attained US patents for its composition, plus has pending patents worldwide.

“Indian gooseberry is a traditional Indian fruit that combines superfruit health benefits with traditional Indian Ayurvedic formulations.

“In recent clinical trials, including results from a new study to be released at Hi Europe later this year, it has demonstrated heart health benefits, including reducing LDL and triglycerides. The recommended dosage of TRILOW to promote cardiac health is just 500mg twice a day,” said the Kerala-based company.

Arjuna also will exhibit its turmeric extract brand, BCM-95® and present the latest clinical research results of its OXYSTORM standardized nitrate ingredient for sports nutrition.

Both amla and turmeric were identified as superfood trends that could help Indian firms boost exports at the recent Fi India show in Delhi.

Mintel consultant Neha Nayak said consumers in the US and Europe were becoming increasingly aware of turmeric’s ant-inflammatory potential, and pointed to a number of products on US supermarket shelves containing amla.
