APAC’s brightest and best finished products, ingredients and research projects have been revealed at the second NutraIngredients-Asia awards, held in Singapore.
More than 150 industry executives attended the ceremony, held at Marina Bay Sands on the eve of the Vitafoods Asia exhibition.
They were present to find out who took home the top prizes in 12 categories.
Herbalife reveals key market opportunities in APAC on the back of new record high for sales volume
Herbalife has identified three key opportunities in APAC's dietary supplement market, ranging from obesity to ageing after the firm saw a 23% year-on-year rise in sales in the region.
The firm revealed the numbers in its Q2 earning reports, adding this marked the sixth quarter in a row that the region has set a new all-time record for sales volume.
Within South East Asia (SEA), Vietnam, Malaysia, and Indonesia were the top performers in terms of volume, with a growth of 40%, 32%, and 28% respectively. India also grew by 36%.

NZMP has launched a low lactose dairy product, aimed at encouraging elderly to increase their dietary intake of protein, while addressing digestion difficulties at the same time.
The low lactose dairy was showcased at the Food Ingredients Asia show held in Thailand recently.
The lactose level in the new product was less than 0.5%.
Cash crop: Thai authorities approve use of hemp in food, cosmetics and CBD in herbal products
Hemp and CBD are now allowed for use in herbal products made in Thailand after the authorities relaxed restrictions on their use.
The country issued a royal gazette, which allowed hemp to be used in herbal products, food, and cosmetics, with effect from Aug 27.
The Thai government also removed cannabis and hemp extracts with THC content of less than 0.2% from the list of banned narcotics substances.
Scope for expansion: Digestive health still centre stage in India’s probiotic market –Lumina Intelligence
The Indian probiotics market is still largely focused on digestive and immune health, meaning there is huge scope to drive sales by educating consumers of their multiple benefits.
New data from Lumina Intelligence, a market insights platform operated by William Reed, the publisher of NutraIngredients-Asia, assessed a total of 113 probiotic brands sold in the country.
Findings from online consumer reviews showed that digestive health was the most prevalent health claim, with 95 out of 113 brands reviewed claiming to provide digestion benefits.
