Nutra Champions Podcast Series
Podcast: Don’t blame consumers for nutra scepticism, it’s a failure of companies not doing good science – Dr Ram Vishwakarma
is the director of the Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM) at Jammu, who addresses questions about consumers’ scepticism towards the nutraceutical industry, the challenges that the industry faces, and why he believed that botanicals were the way to go for developing new products – especially for neuro-degenerative conditions such as Alzheimer's.
An alumnus of Cambridge University, he also discusses the background to his professional career.
Although he was offered a position at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) upon graduation, he decided to return to his home country India, in order to contribute to the national scientific development.
He also spoke about his decision to branch into nutraceuticals, building on his experience in synthetic chemistry and drug discovery, and why he believes nutra innovation could lead to the next generation of pharma discoveries.
