The company announced in July its partnership with South Korean microbiome start-up Holzapfel Effective Microbes (HEM) in developing personalised probiotics for supporting gut, immune, brain, skin health, as well as weight management.
The at-home microbiome test will be made available in South Korea later this year.
This is one example of how the company is working with start-ups with advanced technologies in upgrading the quality of its services.
Other technologies, such as social commerce and big analytics are also on the company’s radar, Paul Seehra, VP of new ventures, science, and systems told NutraIngredients-Asia.
“We see that social commerce technology, particularly in APAC, are advanced and frankly, becoming even more progressive and how they have touched people’s lives.
“So, we are very interested in digital technologies that can enhance our distributors’ ability to conduct social commerce,” he said.
The explosion of big data analytical technologies in the recent years can also help the company understand its customers better.
As such, China is one of the key APAC regions where the company will look to for potential partnerships.
Others include economies with strong innovation ecosystem such as Singapore, or emerging technologies for supporting nutrition technologies, such as Japan, and Korea.
