WINNER: Professor Khalid Abdul Kadir - Monash University Malaysia
Prof. Emeritus Dato’ Dr Khalid Abdul Kadir is currently the Professor of Medicine at Tan Sri Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine, Monash University, Malaysia, and the Endocrinology and Internal Medicine Specialist at the Thomson Hospital, Damansara, Malaysia.
Prof. Khalid has made significant contributions to the field of endocrinology and was conferred the prestigious Merdeka Award in 2008 for his contributions to the study and understanding of diabetes, and the relationship between hormones and stresses in various tissues. In the same year, he was made an Honorary Fellow of the College of Physicians, USA, and Fellow of Academy of Medicine Singapore.
His main research interest is in nutritional stress in the pathogenesis of metabolic syndrome, and investigating compounds for the treatment of diabetes and metabolic syndrome.
He has published more than 340 papers in international and national peer reviewed journals with 4000 citations.
