Several major infant formula brands, including a2 milk and Danone’s Aptamil, are successfully gaining market share despite a shrinking birth rate and tighter regulatory regime in China, their latest financial results have shown.
Danone has reported ‘solid growth’ in its infant formula brand Aptamil in China for the first six months of 2023, while functional drink brand Mizone has recovered from underperformance after product revamps.
China, North Asia, and Oceania contributed the highest sales growth for Danone at 16 per cent in the first quarter of year 2023, led by increased purchases of its key products, including infant nutrition and adult specialties.
